Blogging, SEO and Twitter

On April 29, I reported that just using Twitter as a mechanism to increase your blogs rankings in the Search Engines wasn’t going to work, simply because the Twitter links are marked “No Follow”.

So, to continue my SEO experiment, I left my blog running and turned on pinging services. The results are far more interesting.

Digging & Shouting, What’s The Deal?

A couple of days ago I wrote about an experiement being conducted by Chris Lang about the effects of “shouting” your own posts on Digg. At the time of writing, Chris suspected that shouting your own posts to your Digg friends actually caused Google to derank your information and not list your posts in the natural search engines. However, that was conjecture at that time.

Should You Digg & Shout Your Own Articles?

Whilst it sounds like a cool song title, it isn’t. Are you risking a “google slap” for practicing bad social techniques?

Is Your Domain Registrar Using Tactics That Will Get You Banned By Google?

Seen in my trip around the blogosphere this morning, a tactic being used by NetSol that could well get its customers banned by Google. Are you affected?

Take a look at the article linked above. In short, NetSol are using tactics to find wildcard subdomains for any domain that is using their DNS service, to find any subdomains that do not already have an explicit DNS entry.
