Well here I am at the beginning of 2008 wondering where 2007 went.  2007 was mix of highs and low for my family.  We exited our retail stores after nearly 4 years of extremely hard work and not much return and had to deal with the “fall out” from this, my husband (who has a Graduate Dip in IT) became a first year Electrical Apprentice, we went into the Electrical Contracting Business and  we sold our investment property to cover some of the debts.  We were seriously wondering if we would make it to the end of the year!   All of this has occurred since July!

For me, I reentered the Sales field in the IT industry, reconnected with old contacts and started making new ones.  What amazed me was the general warmth I was met with, after a 3 year absence.  In addition to that, I started my online businesses and started acquainting myself to the ins and outs of this.  Trying to balance my new “work life” and my online businesses was interesting, and I found that getting up at 4am and not getting to sleep until midnight or later 6 days a week was a reality!  Of course, with Stuart having to leave by6 am Monday to Friday, the early rising wasn’t an issue.

However, overall 2007 was a great year.  Yes, we had our challenges, but we found that by keeping focussed on the positives in our life, we could weather the “speed bumps in the road of life”.

We still have some large challenges to overcome in 2008 however, we are all certain that we will succeed and exceed our own desires – all we have to do is focus on the larger picture.  Our larger picture, as it has been for many years, is to generate enough passive income to cover our expenses, so that we can assist our Parents and provide support to others.

For our children, we want to provide them with the practical example of how they achieve whatever they want with the right frame of mind, correct planning and considered application of hard work.

What are your goals for 2008?  Do you have that picture in your mind?
