What Every Audio Interview Needs - A Transcription

Blogging, Internet Marketing, Web 2.0 June 17th, 2008

Audio interviews & Podcasts are being hailed as a great method to increase traffic to your site / blog. In my experience, that’s correct. I also love doing audio interviews to help with product / service promotion, because I can provide, generally, a unique view of the person behind the product / service. I also just love being able to find out more about the people behind the scenes, so to speak.

Twitter Following….

Internet Marketing, Twitter June 14th, 2008

Recently, I have been receiving messages from people I follow thanking me for following them and then encouraging me to visit their website.  I was wondering how this is achieved, then I found TweetLater.  A neat little application that allows you to schedule your tweets, for when you’re busy, and allows you to automatically follow those who follow you.

Twitter Tips and a Question

Social Marketing, Twitter, Web 2.0 June 7th, 2008

Twitter is a fantastic tool.  Twitter has been described as a micro blogging tool, but what does it mean and how can you use it?

With Twitter, you connect to a wider International community by sending, and reading, 140  character text messages.  The question that your Twitter interface generally asks is “What are you doing now?”  Take that question and respond with imagination.

Virtual Smart Agent - Your Sales Person in a Box

Internet Marketing, Web 2.0 May 26th, 2008

Being a real numpty, I always wondered how Internet Marketers could afford to have a live person establish an online chat with me when I went to leave their sales page. I was amazed that someone was just waiting for me to visit their page and then try to navigate away. You see I am in Australia and most of the websites I was visiting were in the US. When I was surfing, it was still night time there.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered Virtual Smart Agent (VSA). I found out that there may not have been a live person talking to me, rather a piece of very smart code driving a fully customizable database just set up to answer my questions. When I found Virtual Smart Agent I decided to see what else was around. What I found was that, VSA was great value for having Virtual Live Chats on my web pages. VSA was available with one off payment, where some of it’s competitors had ongoing monthly fees. Read the rest of this entry »

PODCAST: Social Marketing in The 21st Century, Do You Risk Becoming Extinct?

Podcasts, Social Marketing, Web 2.0 May 16th, 2008

My Media SystemA blog post by John Mariotti yesterday, stated that REAL business people don’t use (and won’t use) Social Media Marketing. The article goes on to provide 10 reasons why Mr Mariotti won’t use social media and whilst some of his points have merit, I was left quite flabbergasted as to his main reasonings.

An interesting point of view, that REAL business people don’t use social marketing. Really? In the offline world, I wonder what would you call Conventions, Seminars, business mixers and the like? Certainly, there is an aspect of social marketing there, isn’t there?

Twitter - Keeping Up With The Conversation!

Twitter, Web 2.0 May 10th, 2008

Twitter is probably my favourite communication tool. It is a social tool and is allows me to communicate with a wide group of friends, across the world. Even the 140 character limit for tweets doesn’t faze me, I have learned how to be succinct!

Today, I learnt of another tool in the Twitter tool kit that allows you to track a conversation about a particular topic. With all the conversations going on across Twitter, it can be hard to keep up with a conversation on one particular topic. By adding a hash tag (#name) to your Tweet, you can use Twemes.com to track the conversation, no longer how it goes for.

Blogging, SEO and Twitter

Blogging, Internet Marketing, SEO, Web 2.0 May 4th, 2008

On April 29, I reported that just using Twitter as a mechanism to increase your blogs rankings in the Search Engines wasn’t going to work, simply because the Twitter links are marked “No Follow”.

So, to continue my SEO experiment, I left my blog running and turned on pinging services. The results are far more interesting.
