What Every Audio Interview Needs - A Transcription

Audio interviews & Podcasts are being hailed as a great method to increase traffic to your site / blog. In my experience, that’s correct. I also love doing audio interviews to help with product / service promotion, because I can provide, generally, a unique view of the person behind the product / service. I also just love being able to find out more about the people behind the scenes, so to speak.

Blogging, SEO and Twitter

On April 29, I reported that just using Twitter as a mechanism to increase your blogs rankings in the Search Engines wasn’t going to work, simply because the Twitter links are marked “No Follow”.

So, to continue my SEO experiment, I left my blog running and turned on pinging services. The results are far more interesting.

Video: Having Problems With Images & Wordpress 2.5 onwards?

The other day, I started the task of upgrading my blogs to Wordpress 2.5.1. This blog is still to be done, but overall the process is relatively simple.

What wasn’t simple though, after upgrading, was getting images to upload through the visual editor. In fact, it was impossible - I just kept getting a “HTTP ERROR” and it was extremely annoying. Searches showed that this was experienced by many others and some people were so annoyed by it, they had downgraded their blogs 2.3.3 just to get around it. Others, were uploading images via FTP or through CPanel and using the URL to display to them.

The Great Twitter and SEO Experiment (Day 1)

Today, I set up my new blog to test the effect of Twitter on Search Engine Rankings.

Just a quick recap - there has been discussion amongst a group of colleagues that suggests that Tweeting your links will help raise their rank in Googles Search Engine. This is on the premise that your Tweet (which contains your URL) will appear on all of your followers status pages, the more links to your site, the higher your Search Engine Ranking. A few days ago, I asked the question ” Is Twitter A SEO Tool?” and concluded that the Jury was probably out.

The question was again posed on the Women Internet Marketers Social Network they other day and, as part of that discussion, we decided to test the premise.

Is Your Blog Fresh?

One of the things that challenges that I am faced with in running my blogs (and I have several) is finding new and interesting information to post about. I am well aware of the fact that great content is a necessity to keep my readers interested and get them to come back and I am equally aware that it is important to keep my content original.

To me, this means that I spend considerable time each week finding this new and interesting information that is pertinent to my niche and then spend more time writing about what I find to make the content unique.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy doing this and consider it part of the learning process.

Product Review: Web 2.0 Wealth

Approximately two weeks I was the winner of Alex Sysoefs Web 2.0 Wealth Program, as part of a contest Alex is running. Blogging Comments, SEO and SPAM

Today, I’m going to talk about commenting on blogs and one of my pet hates when auditing the comments on my blogs.

We all know that comments to blog posts are an excellent way to generate back links to your blog, thus improving its search engine rankings.

This is an extremely valid method for link generation and, when used properly, is extremely effective.

The one thing that I have seen though is the amount of abuse that this is open to! What is even more annoying is that a number of the comments that I audit as spam seem to be automatically generated. The entries on my blogs are even read - these commentors are just using my efforts in an attempt to get their site or blog to rank more highly. This is SPAM!
